Foaling Around Livery was built in late Victorian times as a livery and breeding stables for the middle classes, the invention of the motor car and the first world war, turned Foaling Around into a farm and led to a slight change in name.
Foaling Around remained as a working farm for many years despite the changes in ownership, until Patricia and Harry Bailey turned Foaling Around back into what it once was a successful stud and horse stables.
There was talk of changing the name but Pat kept as a tribute to her late husband, for many years Pat and Harry successfully ran Foaling Around Farm, breeding the best Hanoravians and Thoroughbreds in the Cleveland Bay area.
In fact Foaling Around Farm became very well known throughout horse breeding circles.
That all ended when Pat became ill and was no longer able to run Foaling Around Farm, Harry who was spending a lot of time caring for his wife asked his brother Victor to take over the day to day running of the farm with the help of his daughter Isabella.
Victor could talk the talk, but he couldn’t walk the walk and he ran Foaling Around Farm into the ground slowly but surely and poor Harry didn’t find out until it was too late.
All he could do was try to stop the rot by selling off as much as he could as quickly as could, so almost all of the land and all of the horses had to be sold.
Luckily, they managed to keep the house, some land, and a couple of horses, just maybe enough to start over.
But then Harry found out that Victor had left them high and dry and he couldn’t take anymore, his heart just gave out and he was gone.
Leaving poor Pat a widow once again, but sadly, she wasn’t far behind him, although she did live long enough to leave Foaling Around Farm in its entirety to her great niece Sarah Patricia Wallace.
